Because of her achievements, she was ranked 9th in career points within the WNBA history. Her stats consisted of being third in rebounds, seventh in career assists, fifth in blocks, and fourth in double-doubles. Parker left it all on the court. She is still the only player in WNBA’s history to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season. Parker did not participate in a farewell tour, but posted on Instagram a message that shocked the entire WNBA league, which was the announcement of her retirement. The WNBA will not only lose an incredible player, but someone who has made a significant impact. Parker was a player that strives to help improve women’s sports and help women break barriers. She not only helped push the WNBA into the spotlight, but she also became a sports broadcaster who owns a professional women’s soccer team, and is also the face of Adidas. Parker, without cheating the game, achieved all those accomplishments while battling injuries throughout her career. Brenna Stewart who was told the news during a practice, was one of the many people that were shocked by the announcement. Over the years, Parker has shown that grit and hard work pays off. Parker will continue to be known as the legend of the game and an inspiration to many.
