Lynx 99 – 84 Wings

The Dallas Wings’ season-opening game at their home court in Texas ended in a loss for the team, which drafted WNBA No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers. The Minnesota Lynx seem to be on a roll, continuing their victory streak from the 2024 season. The team was led by Napheesa Collier, who scored an impressive 34 points along with four assists and four rebounds, while Courtney Williams recorded nine assists and contributed 25 points to the scoreboard.

Both teams were tied at 36-36 at halftime, despite the Wings leading at the end of the first quarter. Coming off the bench, Diamond Miller added ten points, providing a significant boost in bench scoring for the team. Lynx rookies Anastasiia Olairi Kosu and Mariēme Badiane played sparingly, logging less than five minutes on the floor and not effectively contributing to the rotation.

On the other hand, rookie Bueckers was among the starting five for the Wings and finished the game with 10 points, two assists, and seven rebounds. Key for the Wings was Arike Ogunbowale, who scored 16 points and had four assists. It was a tough day for the Dallas centers, who were limited in scoring, with NaLyssa Smith, the starting center, scoring six points and Teaira McCowan ending the game with no points.

Lynx 89 – 75 Los Angeles Sparks

The Los Angeles Sparks hosted the Lynx for their second game of the season, coming off a win against the Golden State Valkyries. The Lynx, who have been on the road for both of the season openers, secured their second win and Collier still showed up big for the team, scoring 23 points and picking up six rebounds. She scored five of the six field goal attempts in the first quarter and went 1-3 from the three. The first quarter ended with the Lynx having a five-point lead (30-25).

The Los Angeles Sparks reduced the deficit to just one point at halftime, trailing 46-45. Dearica Hamby and Azurá Stevens led the scoring for the Sparks with 15 and 16 points, respectively. The Lynx surged ahead in the third quarter, concluding with a score of 70-62 and carried this momentum into the fourth quarter to finish with a 14-point lead. Williams achieved her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 assists for the Lynx. Hamby also notched a double-double for the Sparks with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
