Monica Wright Rogers Named First General Manager of Toronto Tempo

The Toronto Tempo, the WNBA’s newest expansion franchise, has officially named Monica Wright Rogers as its first general manager. Wright Rogers, a former WNBA champion and seasoned executive, will oversee the team’s operations as it prepares for its 2026 debut. Her appointment marks a major milestone for the franchise and reinforces the growing influence of women in basketball leadership. 

From WNBA Champion to Executive Leader  

Wright Rogers was the second overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft and quickly established herself as an elite defender. She played a key role in the Minnesota Lynx’s championships in 2011 and 2013, contributing to one of the league’s most dominant dynasties. After retiring in 2016, she transitioned into coaching and executive roles, gaining experience in team operations and player development.  

Building the Toronto Tempo From the Ground Up
