The KC Current forward, Temwa Chawinga, has set another record in the NWSL. The Malawian signed a two-year contract with KC Current in 2024, and in just two years, she has shattered records and established new ones. She scored her 25th goal against the Orlando Pride in a highly anticipated game, as both teams currently lead the NWSL. The Orlando Pride were also the 2024 season champions, making this a tough contest for the Current, who are tirelessly working toward securing their third NWSL Championship. Temwa was awarded the Golden Boot last season for breaking the goal-scoring record previously held by Sam Kerr. In the 2025 season, she has so far scored five goals in nine games. This was a much-needed comeback goal for the forward, who had been scoreless for the past couple of games.

The goal served as a morale booster for her and the team. She scored in the 51st minute after intercepting a pass from Kylie Strom in defense, and the goalkeeper placed the ball in the upper left corner of the net. This makes her the leading goal scorer for winning goals for the KC Current, where she has netted the winning goal in eight games. She achieved this goal in her 34th regular-season game in the NWSL with the KC Current.

Previous Title Holders

Kim Little played for the Seattle Reign FC from 2014 to 2016 and returned in 2022 on a short-term loan. The Scottish player was a sensation, breaking records and impacting the team’s overall success. For two consecutive years, she was with the team, which reached the finals despite not winning the championship. She scored 25 goals in 40 matches, surpassing Sophia Wilson’s record. Sophia had scored 25 goals in 41 games while playing for the Portland Thorns. The record was previously held by Christen Press, who netted 25 goals in 42 regular-season matches.

They also had five shots on target, which was one more than the four shots on target by the Pride.
