Teagan Kavan Leads Texas to College World Series Finals with Dominant Pitching Performance
With freshman phenom Teagan Kavan, Texas Softball beat Stanford to advance to the College World Series Championship on Monday night. In a game marked by outstanding pitching on both sides, Kavan threw a one-hit, game shutout to elevate the Longhorns to a 1-0-win Monday at Devon Park and secure their seat in Wednesday’s finals series.
Alyssa Washington dove across home plate to avoid a tag in the top of the seventh inning, scoring the game’s only run. It was Kavan’s 20th win of the season.

“That was an old-fashioned ballgame right there. Two tremendous pitchers going at it,” Longhorn’s head coach Mike White said. “We created some pressure in that last inning and then we hung on.”
Texas has won three games at this WCWS, all of them one-hit shutouts. Kavan exploded over eighth-seeded Stanford on Thursday, throwing 124 pitches in a 4-0 win, and the Longhorns beat Florida 10-0 on Saturday.
Their Opponent
Top-seeded Texas (56-8) will get a day off Tuesday while Big 12 rival and No. 2 seed Oklahoma meets No. 4 Florida to determine the Longhorns’ finals opponent. We’ll soon know if there is another Texas OU Showdown on the horizon for the championship.
