Witnessing History in the Making

Witnessing history in the making is a profound privilege, especially when it highlights the achievements of women. We wholeheartedly support the strides women are making, not just as athletes, but also as those who have embedded themselves in the world of sports. From broadcast reporters to coaches, and from executives to analysts, we celebrate the remarkable contributions of women who continue to break barriers and inspire future generations.

A Milestone Event for Women in Sports Media

On July 7, 2024, the Chicago Cubs made history by establishing their first-ever all-female broadcast team on Marquee Sports Network. This milestone event underscores the growing presence and impact of women in sports media, setting a powerful example for aspiring female professionals everywhere.

Meet the Trailblazing Broadcasters

The historic broadcast team included Beth Mowins, Elise Menaker, and Taylor McGregor. All three broadcasters brought passion and dedication to the broadcast, having worked their way up through the ranks. Mowins expressed, “we have worked our way up through the ranks and hopefully have earned the respect of not only one another, but our peers and co-workers. To have earned the opportunity to be in this chair now today, you just hope you are your best in the big moment.”

This group was a solid team put together, with all three having been involved in the sports world for a while and making a significant impact. They have expressed their aspirations with the historical moment, inspiring many to dream big.

Mowins broke new ground in 2017, becoming the first woman in 30 years to call an NFL game, setting a precedent for women in sports broadcasting. Following in her footsteps, Menaker made history in 2022 as the first woman to serve as a television analyst for a Cubs game. Meanwhile, McGregor brought her extensive experience to the team, having been deeply involved in the sports world as the on-field reporter for the Colorado Rockies.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The achievements of Mowins, Menaker, and McGregor are a testament to the dedication and hard work required to break new ground in sports media. Their historic broadcast on July 7, 2024, serves as an inspiration to women everywhere, demonstrating that with perseverance and passion, it is possible to overcome barriers and achieve greatness. The world of sports will continue to be enriched by diverse voices and perspectives, creating an inspiring environment for all.

  1. That is awesome, it’s refreshing to see many women earn opportunities that they would be looked over 20 years ago.
