The two-time champion A’ja Wilson was in Tampa, FL, for the Final Four tournament this past weekend. Boardroom was hosting an event for Wilson to celebrate her latest partnership with Chase ahead of the women’s college basketball championship game, and it was an invite-only type of event. It was exclusive to well-known media members and former and current athletes. Not only was Wilson celebrating her collaboration with Chase, but she was also doing her Nike A’One signature shoe tour on Thursday in Tampa. The shoe tour was a success, and the stock ran out quickly. Two successful events for A’ja as she continues to elevate herself on and off the court.

Sydney Colson – A’ja Wilson Boardroom Conversation

Boardroom caught up with Wilson in Tampa with former Las Vegas Aces teammate Sydney Colson, who moderated the conversation. The two discussed women’s sports elevation, sponsorship opportunities and Wilson’s desire to pursue more. Colson and Wilson reflected on how much women’s basketball has changed in terms of the opportunities and exposure women’s sports get now. Wilson replied, “Truly, everything changed.”

Honestly, everything has changed for the better in women’s basketball. The energy has shifted for the last few years as the viewership, merchandise, exposure, and attention have risen. It all started with Nike releasing new jerseys for the WNBA for the 25th Anniversary. All 12 teams debuted three new jerseys (Heroine, Explorer, and Rebel) editions.

Another great point Wilson mentioned was that it was not simply a moment, but a movement. That is a statement within itself. That is a powerful statement; not only is it a moment but also a movement, meaning it’s here to stay. More businesses are investing in women’s sports; it is no longer “Cool” but beneficial for every party involved.

Wilson has always mentioned that she will not settle for good; she wants to be great and legendary regardless of all the accolades. She is never satisfied and wants more for herself. This proves why she continues to earn more partnerships and is well-deserved for her latest with Chase. Wilson pointed out and said, “I don’t want to just be good. I mean, the good is cool, but I want to be great. I want to be legendary.”
