Women’s FIFA World Cup 2027

The women’s FIFA World Cup 2027 dates were announced. The tournament will be held in Brazil.

The Women’s FIFA World Cup 2027 will be held in Brazil from June 24 to July 25, 2027. This was after consultation with the Brazilian Football Association and other confederations. 

The FIFA council met virtually to discuss a number of FIFA competitions expected to take place in the coming years and set a way forward for the preparations of these competitions. Among the discussion was the announcement of the 2027 FIFA Women’s Cup host country and the dates for the tournament. It was also during this meeting that the council revealed that there is an evaluation process taking place for bidding for the 2030 and 2034 editions of the World Cup.

As per FIFA, the Tournament Will Have 32 Teams Competing From Across the Globe With a Division as the Following:

  • 1. Six direct slots from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). 
  • 2. Four direct slots from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
  • 3. Four direct slots from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).
  • 4. Three direct slots from the Confederación Sudamerican de Fútbol (CONMEBOL). Brazil automatically qualifies as a host country for the games, taking one slot from the CONMEBOL slot.
  • 5. One direct slot for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).
  • 6. Eleven direct slots from UEFA.

With these listed, three slots remain unfilled, which will be filled through a series of two or one playoff slot in the different confederations. 

2023 Women’s World Cup 

The 2023 Women’s World Cup occurred in Australia and New Zealand between July 20th and August 20th. Spain won its first-ever World Cup Championship after defeating England 1-0 in the final game in Sydney. The 2023 tournament was also monumental as the tournament expanded to accommodate more women’s teams, adding eight more teams to make 32 teams.
