The Game
The U.S. continuously pressured the Jamaican side, and the effort paid off in the 19th minute when Ally Sentnor scored a goal from the penalty box into the bottom left corner of the goal. This marked the Utah Royals forward’s first goal for the National Team in the nine matches she has represented the nation at the international level. She netted a second goal in the 28th minute, completing a brace.
The U.S. went into halftime with a two-goal lead. Lynn Biyendolo entered as a substitute in the second half and scored within the first three minutes after stepping onto the pitch. Her goal resulted from a corner kick after the Jamaican goalkeeper lost control of the ball in the box, and Lynn seized the opportunity to tap the ball into the net. With less than three minutes remaining in the game, Lynn scored again, completing her brace and making the score 4-0. Jamaica struggled throughout the match, maintaining less than 20% possession and failing to register any shots on target. They made only two attempts compared to the U.S.’s 23 shot attempts.
USWNT
Currently, the team has a series of international friendlies in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers, in which it will compete in the Concacaf Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. The NWSL resumes this weekend, and they will have another break at the end of the month, when they will face Ireland in a home game. It will be a good game for Coach Emma Hayes to test the depth of her team and understand areas they seek to grow, as Ireland is a tougher team and will bring a tough front against the USA.
