INDIANAPOLIS â Caitlin Clark made a powerful return from injury on Friday, leading the Indiana Fever to a 102â88 victory over the previously unbeaten New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The second-year guard energized the offense with 32 points and nine assists, helping the Fever improve to 5â5 on the season.
A Statement Win
Facing a 9â0 Liberty squad, the Fever delivered their most impressive team performance yet. Indiana used a 29-point second quarter to gain control and held strong through the second half, outscoring New York in three of four quarters.
Indianaâs defense tightened down the stretch, holding the Liberty to just 17 points in the fourth. The win marks a key moment for a team still finding its identity.
Clarkâs Impactful Return
After recovering from an ankle injury, Clark appeared sharp and confident. She shot 11-of-20 from the field, including 3-of-5 from three-point range, and kept the offense running smoothly. Her vision and pacing facilitated opportunities both in transition and in the half-court.
Aliyah Boston added 11 rebounds, taking advantage of the space Clarkâs floor-spacing provided. The Feverâs offense looked more connected with Clark running the show.
Liberty Handed First Loss
Despite a 34-point performance by Sabrina Ionescu, the Liberty (9â1) struggled to match Indianaâs intensity. New Yorkâs lowest-scoring quarter occurred in the fourth, as Indianaâs defense effectively contained them.
The Liberty remains one of the WNBAâs strongest teams, but it showed cracks under pressure.
Whatâs Next
With Clark healthy and back in rhythm, the Fever are regaining their footing.Â
