The National Soccer Hall of Fame has unveiled its 2025 class, featuring five distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport in the United States. The inductees include Carli Lloyd, Chris Armas, Mary Harvey, Nick Rimando and Mark Abbott. The induction ceremony will take place on May 3, 2025, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
Carli Lloyd
Carli Lloyd, a two-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year, headlines the 2025 class. Lloyd, who played 316 full internationals between 2005 and 2021, is celebrated for her pivotal goals in major world finals. She won two Olympic gold medals (2008 and 2012) and two World Cup titles (2015 and 2019). Lloyd’s illustrious career also includes stints with Western New York Flash, Houston Dash, and NJ/NY Gotham in the NWSL and a loan spell with Manchester City, where she won the English Women’s FA Cup in 2017.
First Year Eligibility
In her first year of eligibility, Carli’s induction recognizes her significant contributions to the sport, including her memorable hat-trick in the 2015 World Cup Final against Japan.
Chris Armas
Chris Armas, currently the head coach of the Colorado Rapids, is recognized for his outstanding career as a defensive midfielder in Major League Soccer (MLS) and his contributions to the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT). Armas played 12 seasons in MLS, initially with the LA Galaxy and later with the Chicago Fire, where he won an MLS Cup and three U.S. Open Cups. He was named to the MLS Best XI five times and made 66 appearances for the USMNT1.
Mary Harvey
Mary Harvey, a pioneering goalkeeper, played a crucial role in the U.S. Women’s National Team’s (USWNT) victory at the inaugural FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991 and the gold medal win at the 1996 Olympics. Harvey’s career also saw her play professionally in Germany and Sweden, making her one of the first American women to compete overseas.
Nick Rimando
Nick Rimando, one of the greatest goalkeepers in MLS history, holds the record for most appearances in first-division American soccer with 553 games. Rimando’s career spanned 20 seasons, during which he won MLS titles with D.C. United and Real Salt Lake. He also made 22 appearances for the USMNT, contributing to the team’s 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup victory.
Mark Abbott
Mark Abbott, elected from the Builder Ballot, played a pivotal role in the growth of MLS. As the league’s first employee, Abbott served as president and deputy commissioner from 2013 to 2022. His leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping MLS into the successful league it is today.
