The WNBA released its 15-game preseason schedule for 2025 on April 28 and announced that multiple preseason games will be televised nationally for the first time in league history. Four out of the 15 will be broadcast nationally on ESPN, ION, and NBA TV and the rest of the games will be streamed on the WNBA League Pass app. The last game will be available only on ESPN.
The demand and complaints of WNBA fans wanting to watch preseason games have been evident for years. Everyone can be pleased now and watch their favorite rookies make their WNBA debut starting Friday, May 2, at 7:00 pm ET. Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings play the two-time champions, Las Vegas Aces, on May 2, and everyone can watch the game on ION and the W League Pass app.
Here is what the WNBA Chief Growth Officer had to say:
“We’ve seen the demand for WNBA content grow exponentially and we are meeting that demand by working with our broadcast partners and our teams to make a significant investment by making all 15 preseason games available to WNBA fans,” said WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison. “It will be the ultimate way for fans to follow their favorite players as all 13 teams prepare to tip off the regular season in mid-May. And the preseason schedule itself, with superstars returning to the arenas where they starred in college and, in some cases, teams from around the world serving as opponents, brings an entirely new level of excitement to the WNBA preseason.”
What a time to be a WNBA fan, witnessing the league’s history and popularity rise year after year. The fans no longer have to wait for the regular season to watch their favorite players. Preseason games are now available for the first time on television. Whether it is a Caitlin Clark effect, Angel Reese, or now Bueckers, it is here, and times are changing for the better for the WNBA.
Every team must finalize its roster by 5:00 pm ET on Thursday, May 15, following the preseason games.
