Aaliyah Chavez, a 5’11 point guard from Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas, has solidified her position as the nation’s top high school girls’ basketball recruit for the class of 2025.

Chavez broke her scoring record in a Texas 5A Division II playoff game last week. The 5’11 guard scored 44 points in a 91-53 victory over El Paso Burges. This season, she has scored 1,344 points, surpassing her record of 1,324 as a junior.
Her consistent excellence has propelled the Lady Plainsmen to over 30 wins this season and secured a No. 5 state ranking.
Junior Year Accomplishments
Chavez’s junior year was particularly noteworthy. She led the state in scoring with an impressive 37.8 points per game, propelling Monterey to a 31-win season. Her remarkable performance earned her the 2023-24 Texas MaxPreps High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year title.
