Mallory Swanson, the USWNT‘s star forward, and Dansby Swanson, Chicago Cubs shortstop, shared on Instagram that they are expecting their first baby!
The couple took to Instagram to announce the amazing news. The post consisted of three photos of the athletic couple and a picture of the baby’s ultrasound. The caption read, “Our greatest blessing.”
The couple’s followers and supporters overwhelmed their social media accounts with congratulations and excitement for the couple. The comments also included support from several other renowned athletes such as Ashley Sanchez, Catarina Macario, Casey Krueger, Sam Kerr, and others!
Swanson, fresh off her key role in the USWNT’s gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she scored the decisive goal against Brazil in her 100th appearance with the national team, and Dansby Swanson, who have been together since 2017 and married in 2022, are expanding their family. Since she missed the season opener for personal reasons and is now pregnant, Swanson, a Chicago Stars FC player in the NWSL, is unlikely to play this year.
Dansby Swanson, a 31-year-old two-time All-Star, boasts an impressive career that includes a 2021 World Series title with the Atlanta Braves and consecutive Gold Glove awards in 2022 and 2023. He is batting .236 with seven home runs and 20 RBI, as Chicago stands at 22-16 in first place in the NL Central.

Swanson’s Olympic teammate, Sophia Wilson, and her husband, Michael Wilson, a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, are also expecting their first child.
