Who is Madina Okot?
Madina Okot is a college basketball player from Kenya who played two years at Zetech University in Nairobi. She also participated in the FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League and competed for Kenya’s FIBA 3X3 senior team. During the 2024-25 season at Mississippi State, she averaged 11.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks.
Before joining the NCAA, Okot had an impressive international career, playing for Zetech University in Nairobi, the FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League (AWBL), and the Kenya FIBA 3×3 senior team. In the 2022-23 season of the FIBA AWBL, she averaged 10.9 points and 9.3 rebounds across four competitions. While playing for the Kenya Port Authority (KPA) team in 2023, she averaged 14.0 points and a league-leading 11.0 rebounds, which contributed to the team’s runner-up finish. Okot began her 3×3 career by helping the Kenya U23 National Team qualify for the 2022 World Championships, and she made her debut with the Senior Team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Kenya later became the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup Champion at a pre-qualifying tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Tallest Player on the Roster
Okot is 6’6 tall and has claimed the title of the tallest player on USC’s roster. She is expected to be a major contributor and impact player for the Gamecocks.
“Madina gives our frontcourt additional size and speed,” Staley said. “She has the ability to score, rebound and defend, and her competitiveness and SEC experience are added bonuses. We’re excited to bring her to our Gamecock family.”
Okot joins Florida State transfer Ta’niya Latson(Miami, FL) and incoming freshman Ayla McDowell( Cypress, TX/Cypress Springs) as the new additions to the Gamecocks’ 2025-26 roster.
