Kelsey Plum initially planned to play in the inaugural season of Unrivaled Basketball, which will tip off in Miami in January 2025. On November 27, Plum announced on her Instagram account that she decided not to participate in the upcoming season. The reason for her not participating is to take some personal time. She thanked the league for understanding her decision and wished the league and its players the best.

What Unrivaled Basketball Will be Missing Without Plum on the Roster

Plum is no stranger to 3×3 basketball. She won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics with Team USA. Unrivaled Basketball will miss her quickness, attacking the rim and shooting ability—a two-time champion who knows how to win and be competitive. Her popularity could have been an advantage for the league as well. In the 2024 season with the Las Vegas Aces, Plum averaged 17.8 points per game, 4.2 assists, 42.3 field goal percentage and 86.6 on the free-throw line.

Kelsey Plum Taking Personal Time Off

Plum taking personal time off is the best thing for her mental well-being. She had a tough season, personal and professional, from her divorce to the Aces not winning a three-peat. It was not a year she expected or wanted. This is the perfect time for Plum to regroup and focus on her family time and off-season training. As everyone knows, Plum takes her offseason training seriously. She is one of the WNBA players who will be in top shape every season. She played 38 out of 40 games this season and averaged 34 minutes per game.
