Amber Clark Honored for Leadership in Women’s Flag Football

Amber Clark, head flag football coach at the University of Saint Mary (USM), will receive the Hallmark Cards Leadership Award at the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards on February 4. Announced by WIN for KC on January 15, this award recognizes her leadership and commitment to expanding opportunities for women and girls in football.

A Pioneer in Women’s Football

Clark began her athletic career as a track athlete at the University of North Carolina before transitioning to football. A two-time gold medalist with USA Football’s U.S. National Team, she has played a pivotal role in advancing women’s participation in the sport. As Saint Mary’s head coach, she led one of the first NAIA women’s flag football programs, inspiring the next generation of female athletes.

Advocacy and Athletic Excellence

Clark’s journey from the Legends Football League to USA Football showcases her dedication to growing the sport. After joining the U.S. National Team in 2023 and 2024, she won gold at the IFAF Flag Football World Championships. She also contributes to the sport’s development by coaching at national ID camps, delivering motivational talks, and serving on USA Football’s Board of Directors.

Honored at the Women’s Sports Awards

The Women’s Sports Awards, the largest National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration in the U.S., will take place at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The Hallmark Cards Leadership Award is one of six honors recognizing individuals dedicated to advancing women’s sports.

Impact at the University of Saint Mary

Clark instills her ASPIRE values—Accountability, Scholar, Passion, Inspire and Effort—into her coaching philosophy. Now, in her third season at Saint Mary, she fosters a culture of excellence and character development among her student-athletes.

Clark’s achievements align with Saint Mary’s mission of leadership and service. Vice President of Athletics Rob Miller praised her contributions, highlighting her dedication to her team and advocacy for women in sports.
