Rose 71 – 59 Phantom
After handing the Lunar Owls their first and only loss so far in Unrivaled, the Rose added to Phantom’s run of losses with a 12-point difference on Monday. The Rose, led by Chelsea Gray with 26 points, had a perfect day on the free-throw line compared to Phantom’s 40.0%. Despite Phantom’s better field goal percentage, the Rose found ways to secure the much-needed win, which will place them in a better position on the board with the regular season ending soon.
The Rose separated itself in the first quarter to lead by 10 points. However, in the second quarter, the Phantoms were determined to take the lead, with the quarter turning into a basket-for-basket affair. Despite this, the Rose led by three points at the end of the second quarter. They continued to tear away further in the third quarter and held the Phantoms to only five points in the fourth quarter.
The Phantom’s Struggles
This is Phantom’s seventh loss in a row, and they currently sit at the bottom of the table with no chance of winning the playoffs. The team, led by Coach Adam Harrington, has registered only three wins in seven games. The wins were against Vinyl (79 – 72), the Rose (75 – 63), and Mist (74 – 69). They are no different from the Mist but are faced with a bigger challenge as they are currently at a -9.0 point difference, having lost to teams with differences as high as 35 points. They play the Mist on Friday, but this will be a competitive matchup, given that both teams are currently tied in losses and wins.
Mist 65 – 49 Laces
Unlike the Rose, who had a tough time at the start of the season, the Laces started with a high and were seated in second place for the past weeks until the Rose climbed up the table. The Laces registered their fifth loss, with the Mist securing its third win in the tournament. Breanna Stewart registered a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. And 11 of the rebounds on the defensive end played a big role in the team’s third win. Despite a bad 3-point shooting percentage, with the Mist scoring only 2 of 13 attempts, the team still managed to find ways to secure this much needed win. The Laces led for a greater part of the game and only tore away in the third quarter. Rickea Jackson was also crucial for the win, registering 12 points and eight rebounds for the Mist.
