FIBA Women’s EuroBasket
EuroBasket, short for the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket, is the premier European women’s basketball championship held every two years. It is organized by FIBA Europe, the governing body for basketball on the continent. EuroBasket qualifies for global events like the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup and the Olympic Games.

Top WNBA Stars Headed to Europe
A wave of WNBA departures is underway starting June 18 – June 29, as the EuroBasket tournament begins.
- Golden State Valkyries will lose Janelle Salaün (France), Julie Vanloo (Belgium), Cecilia Zandalasini (Italy), and Temi Fágbénlé (Great Britain).
- Dallas Wings will be without Teaira McCowan (Turkey) and Luisa Geiselsöder (Germany).
- The New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx will also face losses: Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally will go to Germany, Jessica Shepard will go to Slovenia, and Julie Allemand will go to Belgium.
There are some European WNBA athletes staying stateside, including Storm’s Gabby Williams, Liberty’s Marine Johannes, and Valkyries’ Carla Leite and Kyara Linskens.
