The Minnesota Lynx, who appeared to be in a stronger position coming into the game with only four losses out of 21 games played, were defeated by the Chicago Sky, who have won seven of their 21 games. The Minnesota Lynx have not lost any home games; all their losses have been on the road. The Chicago Sky also took the opportunity to capitalize on the Lynx, who had been on the road for four consecutive days. This loss came after their most recent defeat to the Mercury earlier last week.

Angel Reese and Ariel Atkins’ Dominance

The two teams went off to defend their home court, with Angel Reese securing a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Ariel Atkins scored 27 points. This was Angel’s eighth consecutive double-double for the season and the 14th of her career. Kamilla Cardoso also posted a double-double with 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds. The Lynx was heavily out-rebounded, finishing the game with 28 rebounds compared to the Sky’s 45.

Despite having fewer turnovers, the Lynx did not capitalize on this to secure the win on the road. On the other hand, for the Sky, they used the paint where they scored most of their points to tally 44, compared to the limited 28 points they allowed in their paint.

Napheesa Collier scored 26 points, Kayla McBride netted 17 points and Courtney Williams 13 points.

The biggest lead for the Sky was 15 points in the third quarter, and the Lynx never led during the game. This win provides a big boost for the Sky, who have clearly struggled so far this season. Beating the top team in the league right now proves their capability if they can maintain the offensive performance they showed in the game.

Next Game

The two teams will play again on July 14 at 8:00 pm. It should be an interesting matchup to watch.
