Athletes Unlimited, better known as (AU) was founded on March 3, 2020, by Jon Patricof and Jonathan Soros. A women’s professional sports organization led by the players that hosts volleyball, softball, basketball, and formerly Lacrosse competitions. It provides the athletes with inclusive ownership; all players retain equity in the company. The games are in one location; they have weekly re-drafts, and each season is no longer than five weeks. What is also unique about Athletes Unlimited is that the players get to choose a charity of their choice.
The point system is a unique format for the company, and it differentiates Athletes Unlimited from other professional leagues. It allows international and American players to play in the States. WNBA players, in particular, no longer have to go overseas if they choose not to. This provides another opportunity for their families and friends to watch them play in America instead of overseas. This is the case for three-time champion Alysha Clark, who currently plays for the Las Vegas Aces. She gets to play in front of her hometown, and her family gets to watch her play.
The fourth season of Pro Basketball starts in February and ends on March 2 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball Fourth Season
This is the fourth season of pro basketball in AU, a new season in Tennessee. AU will bring 40 players this four-week season. So far, the league has announced 31 of the 40 players. The games are full-court, 5-on-5, and point-based. The top four players become new captains each week and recruit fellow pro players in the weekly draft. The league’s player-driven nature allows players to score points individually and as a team to win MVP titles and cash bonuses. Another fact about AU is that after each game, players and fans get to vote for their MVP.
